Over several days in January 2020, filmmaker Philip Kral, along with Sloat descendant Peter Bush, recorded the life recollections of Peter's father, Harrison O. Bush, Jr., at his lifelong Sloatsburg homestead. At the time of filming, Harrison was 94.

Over the past three years, the Friends of Harmony Hall–Jacob Sloat House have completed three remarkable restoration projects that have revived some of the estate's most iconic architectural features. From the 1848 Grand Staircase and original south parlor windows to the award-winning front veranda, discover how decades of dedication are preserving this historic landmark for future generations.

After decades of neglect, the 1848 Clapboard of Harmony Hall was painted over three days in July 2026 by Willow Tree Painting.

The Friends are deeply honored to be among the recipients of the 2026 Historic Preservation Merit Awards! This recognition reflects the tremendous devotion and dedication of so many people who believe in preserving this historic landmark and its story.

The most critical preservation project is currently underway. Fundraising for the essential front porch project has been ongoing for nearly two decades!
