Discover Tuxedo Event

On a beautiful end of spring, Saturday, The Friends of Harmony Hall – Jacob Sloat House and The Sloatsburg Chamber of Commerce had adjacent booths at the Discover Tuxedo event on June 11th. Kathy Goldman, who is on the Board of Trustees of both organizations, said it was great to speak to visitors about Jacob Sloat’s 1848 mansion Harmony Hall in Sloatsburg.

Many people were surprised to learn such a historic place as Harmony Hall exists in Sloatsburg since it is hidden from view from the Route 17 thoroughfare. Harrison and Peter Bush, Sloat descendants, and Dennis Trotter were on hand to share Sloat Family history and talk about programs and events at the house.

Visitors to the booth were amazed at Harmony Hall’s robust events calendar with such upcoming events as The Grateful Dead Tribute Concert on July 31st, The Rockland County Concert Band on August 27th, The Highlands Bluegrass Festival on September 11th, and Victorian Holiday on December 4th.

The perfect weather promoted a happy atmosphere and camaraderie among the vendors and visitors. Kathy thought it was nice getting to know our Tuxedo neighbors and seeing what they’re up to. Some of them, in turn, have pledged to help volunteer or attend Harmony Hall events.
