A Life Remembered: Harrison O. Bush, Jr. Documentary and His WWII Reflections
A full house audience in Harmony Hall’s double parlor enjoyed the rough-cut screening of Harrison O. Bush, Jr.: Reflections on WW II Service on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Guests included Sloatsburg Mayor Darrell Frasier and Sloatsburg Board Trustee Marc Bitterman. The 45-minute rough-cut screening reflects four hours of interviews with Harrison conducted in January 2020. Following the screening, Producer Peter Bush introduced Photographer Phil Kral and Editor Calvin B. De Mond. Mr. De Mond has worked for Disney, WWOR-TV, Cablevision, KICOM, and Imperial Press, and is the recipient of numerous awards, including three Emmys and a Peabody, while working for Disney/ABC.
In 1944, Harrison, a recent Suffern High School graduate, entered the Army and served in the 330th Infantry of the 83rd Thunderbolt Division. At the time of filming, Harrison was 94. A much-loved educator, historian, and Sloat descendant, Harrison passed away on June 28, 2025, at age 99. His keen intelligence, wit, and excellent memory are clearly evident on camera.
Guests enjoyed a reception in the dining room of Harmony Hall and shared memories of Harrison, World War II, and the rich American Revolution history of our corridor. The completed documentary will serve as a resource for Rockland County schools, libraries, and historical societies.
The recently restored and expanded front porch/veranda, along with freshly painted
clapboard, inspired many guests as the fall 2026 season kicked off enthusiastically at Harmony Hall-Jacob Sloat House.
Our next event is The Seal Man ~ Poet and Art Songs 2026 on Saturday, October 3, at 7pm. Tickets are on sale HERE.
