Harmony Hall Curator Geoff Welch continues the ongoing exploration of American Revolution War history in the Parlor of the Harmony hall mansion on Friday Night with a PowerPoint presentation focusing on possibly the worst winter of the 18th century which had 26 snow storms including six blizzards in our highlands region starting in November of 1779.
The young and very poorly clothed American army was also starving for much of the winter at their encampment at Morristown, New Jersey. Rivers froze so gristmills couldn't produce flour for bread. New York harbour reportedly froze solid for the only time in recorded history!
After the talk refreshments will be served. The event is free but donation for restoration will be very appreciated.
