Art of the Ramapo Valley at Harmony Hall!

Writer's picture: Friends of Harmony Hall LFriends of Harmony Hall L

Geoff Welch has been researching and doing field work on this subject for over 25 years. During that period, Dr. Kenneth Maddox of the Newington-Cropsey Foundation was researching and writing art entries for what is to be a three volume Jasper Francis Cropsey Catalogue-Raisonne. Dr. Maddox became an invaluable resource, adviser and friend, whom we sadly lost at the end of 2018.

Harmony Hall (1848) is a National and NY State Register of Historic Places Site in Sloatsburg, built by Jacob Sloat, who befriended Cropsey in 1846, inviting him to stay with his family for a visit from Sept. 4 - Sept. 14, 1846.  More details on Cropsey’s many visits to Sloatsburg will be presented in Art of the Ramapo River Valley!
