In keeping with our seasonal tradition, the Summer Solstice Celebration at Harmony Hall was held on Saturday, June 17 from 2-4 pm. The program began with Geoff Welch performing original music on a synthesizer in the Parlor. Harrison Bush, a Sloat descendant, then offered some recollections of the Henry Club on Rt. 17. The Henry Club was an early 20th-century Sloatsburg community center with local actors and musicians presenting a variety of shows and entertainment. Harrison also recalled two restaurants at the Harmony Hall site -The Henry Inn, with its post-prohibition beer gardens stretching across the front lawn in the 1930s, followed by Valientes Italian Restaurant. Guests enjoyed some delicious homemade refreshments served in the dining room. After which, a group walked over to the large wild black cherry tree near the house and discussed its popularity as a food source for birds as documented last June in a YouTube video (see below photo gallery).
