Welcome to Harmony Hall ~ the 1848 mansion designed by entrepreneur, inventor and philanthropist Jacob Sloat. Friends of Harmony Hall has been working in partnership with the Town of Ramapo since 2004 to save and restore this unique surviving example of late Federalist architecture. We also are responsible for providing a wide array of cultural programming aimed at the rich history of New York's magnificent Ramapo Pass and the surrounding Ramapo Highlands. Please take a moment to sign our Guestbook or, if you would like to be added to our electronic distribution list, please provide your E-mail address to events@friendsofharmonyhall.org and we will be happy to keep you up-to-date on our events schedule.

Coming Events & Other News!

We're closing the doors for the winter while we plan for an exceptional 2012 at Harmony Hall! Thanks to your support, this year's Victorian Holiday was our most successful yet. We welcomed near record crowds to a decorated mansion, where we enjoyed entertainment, children's crafts, wonderful refreshments (including Kathy Goldman's outrageous mulled cider!) and a visit from the Clauses of the North Pole. We ended the day to the serenades of local carolers on their way to the Sloatsburg Christmas Tree lighting, offering thanks to all of you who have participated in our Restoration Raffles, purchased handmade goods from our craft table and Victorian Shoppe, or dropped a donation in one of our jars or baskets. We are also thankful for the businesses who supported us throughout the past year, and for those who supported our many programs and the Bluegrass Festival. Above all, we are grateful to those who have pledged their support to the restoration of Harmony Hall as donors to this year's Window Campaign or through their membership contribution, particularly those who have lent their time and talents to the house in addition to their financial support.

Finally, we offer our thanks to Town of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence, the members of the town council, the Department of Parks & Recreation and the Town Attorney's Office, and to Assistant to the Supervisor Phil Tisi and the members of the assets committee that he chairs. In the coming spring, the New York State Department of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation and the Town of Ramapo will begin the first major exterior restoration project to be undertaken at Harmony Hall. Over the course of 2012, the roofs of the main mansion will be restored, a center cupola reconstructed, and the front vernadah and mansion entrance doors and transom fully restored. It will be a busy and exciting year and we hope you will return frequently to follow the progress.
